It is realised that each Secretary will have certain methods and duties peculiar to their own and their Club’s circumstances; however, it is hoped that it will serve as a useful guide to even the most experienced person. Wherever possible, examples have been drawn to clearly indicate the intentions of the writer. With the Regulations of DOGS NSW being continually streamlined and updated, the onus is on the Secretary to keep abreast of new Regulations or amendments.

A Treasurer basically holds the money and keeps track of Club property. He/She should immediately check and record all monies received and bank them as soon as possible. Record the category of receipts i.e. Membership Subs, Donations, Entry Fees etc. If money is received by other members of the Club (Secretary, Show Secretary), the Treasurer is responsible to see that the recording and banking of these receipts are carried out correctly. The Treasurer should never allow payments without correct definition and accompanied by some form of documentation, even if that document is created by the Treasurer. Access to Club funds should be limited to two or three of the Office Bearers and Committee. Assets must be controlled. The recording of the asset and who has it is vital.
When an Aggressive Dog Incident Occurs and is Reported, the following must be adhered to
Owner or person in charge of alleged aggressive dog required to immediately place the dog in a secure situation.
Obtain available written statements from the complainant, the owner or handler of the dog complained of, and any witnesses.
Convene an Inquiry Committee as soon as possible consisting of three Show Officials, excluding officiating Judges, or, if at an Agricultural Show, three of the persons nominated on the Show Date Application as being the Dog Section Officials.
The Inquiry Committee is to elect a Chairman from among its membership.
The DOGS NSW Representative must observe, but must not otherwise participate in the Inquiry

Recommendations have been developed by DOGS NSW Obedience and Tracking Committee for use in a COVID-19 environment. These recommendations apply to the use of the grounds at Orchard Hills which are managed by DOGS NSW and are also the minimum requirements to be met by any Affiliated Club conducting an Dogs Australia event. In some instances Local Councils may require additional requirements to these recommendations and also Affiliates may wish to add individual requirements.
