NSW DOG-HOLIDAY CHECKLIST

A bit of prep goes a long way with dogs. Use this quick checklist to make sure your trip is set up to be safe, comfortable and fun for your dog as well as you.

  • Check local rules - confirm where dogs are allowed at your destination (off-leash parks, dog-friendly beaches and any National Park restrictions).

  • Plan for ticks and heat - many coastal and bush areas in NSW are paralysis tick hotspots; pack preventatives and do daily hands-on checks, especially after bush, beach or long-grass walks in known tick areas

  • Confirm accommodation rules - ask in advance whether dogs can go inside, any size/number limits and whether the yard is securely fenced.

  • Update ID details - make sure your dog’s microchip info is current and consider a temporary tag with your holiday contact number.

  • Save a local vet - look up the nearest vet (and after-hours clinic) before you arrive so you’re not searching in an emergency.
