How do I become a registered breeder?

To become a registered breeder, you need to be a member of the RNSWCC and apply for a breeders prefix (which is a bit like a business name). Your prefix application will list 10 prefixes you would like to own, this list is sent to the National Register for checking and approval. (The application may take up to 8 weeks to be approved, so you should lodge your application allowing appropriate time for the application to be approved before the puppies need to be registered)

The first prefix on your list that is found to be suitable will be approved. If none of your prefixes are found suitable you will need to submit a new list of prefixes for checking. The prefix that is approved for you will be the first part of every puppy’s name that you breed. Only ONE Prefix may be registered regardless of the number of Breeds owned.

Upon receipt by the office of this Application, the applicants will be forwarded copies of the recommended reading material, together with the Open Book Examination for completion and return to the office.

Application forms for membership and a prefix are available on our website through the Forms link on the homepage.
