 A Message from the Metro Directors

A good will message to all Dogs NSW members, with particular emphasis on our dog world activities in the Northwest sector of the metropolitan area. It deals with the total development of excellent dog rings and associated buildings located in what is generally described as the Castle Hill dog rings, situated within the grounds of the Castle Hill Show grounds.

The grounds are keenly supported by the Baulkham Hills Shire Council land, under the control of the Nor West Canine Association, who hold the lease of the dog ring area.

All exhibitors who have attended the above grounds must be pleased at all of the developments that have taken place for the total benefit of all our members. All of which has been achieved at no cost to the members of Dogs NSW.

Our dog rings are used on a continual basis and are available for hire by canine clubs at a very reasonable cost. To aid the many night activities, very good lighting covers all the main ring areas. This is soon to be extended to all rings under the control of the Nor West Canine Association.

Baulkham Hills Shire Council is mindful of the importance of properly trained dogs within its area of administration and gives continual support for the development of dog facilities within the showground and beyond.

Fred Hession

Hi, I'm Fred Hession and I am a Director for the Metropolitan Region elected to represent members in this Region with any matters for discussion by the Board.

My main focus at this time is organising the Spring Fair to be held on 24/25/26th November 2006. This will be a new venture running over 3 days and with the Specialty and Obedience on the Thursday night and, as usual, the Agility will be held on the Sunday. We have an interesting panel of judges from many parts of the world - USA, Canada, Portugal, Ireland, Sweden, Japan and Thailand.

We are hopeful that the grounds will be in tip top condition and with the new concrete entrance under the awnings in every ring will make a tremendous difference. The Pedigree Australian National Final for Junior Handlers will be held on the Saturday and the State Finals on the Sunday.

Whats On...

Chihuahua Club of NSW Inc - Fundraiser

The Club is holding a Fundraiser event on Sunday 29th October at Bunnings North Penrith store. There will be a Sausage Sandwiches, Bacon and Egg Sandwiches & drinks available for purchase. Information about our Breed can also be obtained.  For more information contact Julie Alan 02 4729 1375.

Castle Hill Show Grounds

The weekly programme in the showground areas are as follows.

• Obedience training for the general public on Monday evening and Tuesday Mornings
• Flyball training Tuesday evening 
•  Agility Dog training Thursday evenings
• The staging of All Breeds Groups and Specialty Shows on a continuos basis throughout the year 
•  Breed clubs hold fun days and puppy picnics on a regular basis within the grounds

The dog ring areas are well supported by the Hills District Kennel and Training Club also in conjunction with Baulkham hills Shire Council hold dog awareness days for local schools in the shire.
