30 characters (including prefix) NOW AVAILABLE when naming your puppies
Dogs NSW is pleased to advise that all ANKC State Member Bodies have successfully migrated to the new National Software developed for the ANKC by Dogs NSW.
One of the enhancements of this software is that members can now use up to 30 characters (including prefix) when naming their puppies (approved by ANKC in 2000 but unable to be implemented due to software restrictions). The prefix remains a maximum of 12 characters.
In addition the word "Australian" will be dropped from titles to bring the award in line with international practice. Where a dog is imported into Australia the origin of a title is identified on the dog's Certificate of Registration e.g. AKC Ch. (approved ANKC 1986). Therefore in future titles will print as CH. (not AUST. CH.).
Members can now present verification from their veterinary surgeon to indicate that their puppy was born a "Natural Bob Tail". This will be indicated on the dog's record and the notation "Natural Bob Tail" will print out on the Certificate of Registration under the dog's colour. Please note however that BT is not an authorised suffix to a name and must not be used as part of the name on entry forms etc.
